At The Studio Theatre, our subscriptions do not include Preview shows. Season subscriptions are for performances only.
Can we choose our seats for the subscription packages?
At The Studio Theatre, one of the perks of buying a subscription series here is, "reserved premium seats." However, due to the flexible nature of our space and the ever changing seating floor plan for each production, the seat assignments are made by The Studio Staff on a first come first served basis. So get your subscription and choose your dates early for the best possible reserved seat. This allows you to come to the theatre five minutes prior to curtain.

Another perk of subscription purchasing is there is no exchange fee if you wish to exchange your ticket for another date during that show's run (pending availability)
Will a seating chart be posted online?
The Studio Theatre's floor plan will change for every show so it will not be possible to post it online for every production. However, the space is very intimate and seats a cozy 99 people, so no matter where you sit you will feel like you are part of the action.

ABOUT THE SHOWS

When do the doors open for a show?
At The Studio Theatre, the doors to our venue will open 30 minutes before curtain.
If a show is sold out, is there any way to still get a seat?
Even if a show is sold out, you may still be able to get a seat to it. We have a wait list each show night. Just arrive at 6pm for the show you want (or 1 hour before curtain) and add your name to the list. Then kick back in the bar until 5 minutes to curtain. If we have open seats, you will have an opportunity to purchase them and see the show.
What attire is appropriate?
For most shows at The Studio Theatre, business casual is suggested.
Do the actors meet and greet the patrons?
At The Studio Theatre, there is no formal meet and greet, but if you are lucky you may spot one or two actors in the bar after they have gotten out of costume. So head next door and grab a drink, actor spotting can be such fun!
How long do the shows last?
At The Studio Theatre, most of our shows run for about four weeks with five to six performances a week. The run time of each production will vary, so check the information page of the show you are attending for more specifics.

ABOUT THE STUDIO

What type of theatre is this?
The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol is a 99-seat black box theatre space. A Black Box is a flexible space. There are many ways to configure stage and audience areas. The typical ways we can construct the space for performance include: thrust, proscenium, and in the round. We could also configure seats in a "cafe style," alley way, and more. The walls, ceiling, risers, floor, are all black. This serves as a blank canvas to bring any show to life. There are risers for the seating with the stage on the floor. We produce plays and musicals here from scratch. Unlike The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, this theatre is produced in-house. The Studio Theatre does not rely solely on touring shows to come into The Villages to host entertainment. The actors, musicians, sets, costumes, lights, and sound- the performances you see at The Studio will be unique to this venue alone. We are excited for you to come and join us!
Can people who are not residents of The Villages attend performances at The Studio?
Absolutely! At The Studio Theatre, all are welcome!
What are "Preview Shows?" Does that mean that we will only see part of the show? Why should we go to a Preview?
At The Studio Theatre, preview shows are full performances of the production before it is actually open. Audiences get to see the show at a discount while the performers get to have the chance to perform the show in front of an audience. Rehearsals are still underway at this point and the director can make changes to the show based on the feedback received from the audience. Also, previews are still part of the rehearsal process, so be advised that the show might have to "hold" for a myriad of reasons from technical to artistic. Previews are fun because (1) you get a discount, (2) you can see the show before any reviews are written, and (3) because things are still changing you might get to see a part of the show that a regular audience doesn't.
Are all the plays suitable for children?
The Studio Theatre has a show rating system. Please see the rating given to each show before determining whether or not the show's content is acceptable to your taste.

About Casting and Careers

How can we be a part of the theatre? Where are auditions posted? Can we sign up to be Ushers?
For the Studio Theatre, we will have one large audition every summer to cast the shows for the following season and we will post that audition call on Facebook as well as list it in The Daily Sun.
